It was funny, but I'm sure charismatic denominations wouldn't find it so, nor some African-Americans. But, they may not be equally offended by the "non-parody" version of the same sort of "service"...since I've personally seen services much like the one by Brother Jim: hanky for pastor, fan for lady, organ accented points, high drama in delivery, speaking in tongues, "holy rollin'", all in one beautifully packaged service.
Karl, The southern baptists would no more roll on the floor and speak in tongues than you or I. They are quite Calvinist in their theological basis [eg heavily emphasize the "P" in the TULIP], and non-charismatic [deny the validity of "tongues" and a few other such "gifts of the Spirit"]. I was born and raised in a SB church, and there wasn't a peep out of anyone during service, very reverent atmosphere.
Well, this clip is from MadTV, so something tells me it wasn't made by atheists, and is much more a parody of southern baptist church's.
